Question

Standard license on image for portfolio site/GitHub upload

Hello. I am using an HTML template from 'templatemo' (don't know if I'm allowed to post links here) and the licensing on the site states that all images are free to use. However, an image search revealed that the images in that template are actually from Adobe Stock. Am I allowed to use them freely without any commercial gain - eg. on a dummy E-commerce store that does not actually sell stuff, only shows what I can do? Also,

1. 'With a Standard license, you may not Distribute the stand-alone file' - does this mean that I can't push my repo with all the code, HTML and assets (images) to GitHub?
2. 'Create merchandise, templates, or other products for resale or distribution where the primary value of the product is associated with the asset itself' - I mean, the primary value is the site itself, the code, but the banners/product images, etc., make the site look better, thus increasing its value as something I can build. Is this an issue?
3. 'Transfer the license to more than one employer or client, unless separately licensed for each.' - if I write in the README of my GitHub repo something like, 'this repo is free to use by anyone', is this infringing any copyright?
I really don't want to violate any licensing, it's just that templatemo stated that the images are free to use. Please someone from the staff answer this!
Thank you.

Staff won't answer this. They will ask you to check this with a lawyer. Indeed, noone will provide legal counseling here. However, my feeling tells me that you simply can't distribute assets with or without html code. This is different from someone selling mugs or t-shirts with a picture printed on.

Look here for more information on licensing: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/links-for-licensing-terms/td-p/11366788
(Disclaimer: As always with licensing, this is my interpretation of the rules. I think they are correct and advice is based on reading and interpreting the licence terms and on fair use for both the buyer and the artist/stock company, but I cannot rule out that my interpretation is wrong. I'm not an Adobe employee).

"However, an image search revealed that the images in that template are actually from Adobe Stock"

Actually, you've only established that they are OFFERED ON Adobe Stock. Two possibilities (among others)

- the photographer chose to make them free, either directly in the template, or via another free site

- the person making the template is using them in an unauthorized way.

Paying for a license on stock does not allow anyone to redistribute the image in this way; a license can be transferred to exactly one other person (and given up by the original licensee).
