Standard vs Extended Licence Usage

Hello,

I've looked everywhere for an answer to my question on these forums but haven't quite found an answer.  I want to check at what exact stage do I need to purchase the extended licence please.  My website is an online retail store and the viewership is below 500k.  Can I purchase just a standard licence for purposes of advertising a product mockup on my website?  The product is not yet a physical product but the image is used as the main selling image on the product in the mockup.  Then once I sell that particular product and it needs to actually be manufactured then purchase the extended licence in order to use the image to produce the physical product?  Kind of a little bit like a print on demand website I guess.  Ideally it would make sense from a feasibility point of view if we could purchase the extended licence as the products sell.  If you could please clarify this for me that would be greatly appreciated as we don't want to do the wrong thing.

Hi @Marl5CB2,

Based on what you've told us (which isn't much), I think you need an extended license because the asset is "the main selling image."  This implies that you cannot market or sell the product (or mockup) without first obtaining your Extended License.

 

But I urge you to check with your attorney because nobody here can give you legal advice.

I understand that you did not find the answers here as your question is a little outside the range of standard applications. For your application, I suppose best would be to look into the APIs for Adobe stock. If I understand well, sites use the API to offer their product with Adobe stock images printed on on-demand. The user chooses the exact image that he wants with his order. In that sense, the user pays with his order also the licence fee that is due to Adobe. Don't ask me for details, but I'm certain that an API specialist with Adobe can help. https://www.adobe.io/stock/
