Transparent background?

I just purchased 2 files from Stock (glowing Christmas bulbs) that indicated they had transparent backgrounds. The images are listed as Illustrator and .png.

When I use them in Illustrator or try to place them in Word, the background shoes with the little gray squares and is not transparent at all.

What am I missing?!?

Does anybody know of any Stock images that are of a strand of old fashioned Christmas lights that are glowing?

Any suggstions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Can yo post the asset IDs?

Normally, such assets have a fake checkerboard. You need to disable that in the layers palette. It's either a layer on it's own, or a sublayer. It's easy to find, as it needs to be the bottom layer. So it is on the layer palette the last entry.

If you switch them off, it may well be, that the whole asset has a quite ugly appearance. you will need to place that in front of a background object, so that they are showing as expected.

I have come across a few assets where there are hundreds of layers to choose from and none of them remove the checkerboard from the AI file. It essentially makes this file unsable from a transparency perspective. Asset Name AdobeStock_391058961 is one problem file

The checkerboard layer is always the last one. The asset schon is typical for this.

Please note that files like this need a background. The way the asset is applied, it just works with a background, which is normally your image. For best results you need to have Illustrator (best is latest version). Other, especially third party programs may not work.
