Transparent light effect NOT transparent

I bought FILE #:  232919330

Which claimed to be a transparent vector , however when I open it in Illustrator, what I thought was the transparency grid is actually part of the image which I cannot seperate. I can't use it for its intended purpose unless it is transparent. Any tips?

The background object is usually burried deep in the structure. Open the layers panel and navigate to the background object and switch the visibility off.

Assets like this absolutly need a background against which the effects are applied. Unfortuneatly the creators rarely put that object on a separate layer. Contributors could even upload this with instructions for buyers embedded.
