Unable to remove checkered background from Adobe Stock png

I've licensed an Adobe Stock vector (File# 399343242), but thus far, I am unable to remove the black checkered background in Photoshop or Illustrator. Is this file faulty somehow or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated!

Correct answer Nils-Petter

So adobe forces everybody to pay for illustrator just to use stock images they have already bought 😞 I am getting fed up with this company. Will switch to Affinity at first crossroad

Im having the same issue. Im downloading the .AI file of a sunrise. Its says it has a transparent background, but it doesnt. When I open the AI file, I can select the checkerboard and delete it, but the sunrays then have the black and grey of the checkerboard still in them. Which makes this download useless and not a true transparent background. The only way I can see to use this is if I want a black and grey checkered background… which of course, I dont. There has to be a trick I am missing?

You need to download the vector file and this file needs to be edited in Illustrator. As I haven't looked precisely into this asset, assets like this have an object or preferably a layer that can be switched off to disable the background. Unfortunately, some of those assets have the background object buried deep in their structure instead of clearly putting it on a layer named appropriately.

The background object only simulates the appearance of the transparency representation in Photoshop but is in real a fully opaque object. The creators do so because without a background, such "star" images look weird because of their complex handling of the transparency.

There are no PNG files in Adobe Stock! If there were, you could easily have a transparent background.

This one is offered as either AI/EPS or JPEG. Which one did you download?
