What license do I need? Standard vs Extended

Question

I have read the restriction but i just want to be sure if i use a standard license (a photo or a vector) in a contest for a book cover i need to tell to contest holder your book must not be printed more than 500.000 copies(but i saw you may not incorporate a Work into merchandise intended for sale or distribution, unless (A) the Work has been modified to the extent that the modification is not substantially similar to the original Work and can qualify as an original work of authorship)so i can use it if i modify the asset? Or i need to purchase an extended license?

As per the requirement, you have stated above you may use a Standard license for the book cover (if the main/ the primary value of the book is not the image).
