Question

When has anyone seen a completely clean construction worker?

Hello,
Out of the thousands of photos of construction workers, almost every one of them have workers with clean vests, hard hats, clothing and gloves. For a more realistic approach, maybe try to find some used ones. Get the models to dirty themselves up a bit. It is so unrealistic to see these "thumbs up" photos with a crew that has clean, white t-shirts on, the women crew with perfectly done hair (almost always down, never pulled up), and freshly whitened smiles. The contractors hate when we use photos like this because it is so fake. If a photographer used more realistic models with some scuffed up hard hats and vests with a little tar on them, they would be so much better. The others are just a waste of time.

Sorry for the rant!

I've done worksite pictures of real workers. They insisted on cleaning-up, before getting pictured. 😉 And as a side note, either we cleaned the workshop beforehand or we did it digitally. But yes, if you have coalminers that are clean, you know it's fake.

Clean has wider appeal.  Grunge probably doesn't sell as much.

Any decent graphics designer can digitally add dirt to a clean image after purchase, if that's what the project design calls for.  It's the same with filter fx and colorization: easy to add; not so easy to remove. 😉
