Question

Adobe CC Express basics

Hello Adobe people,

I have a subscription to LRC and PS. While I chose to back up my Android photos to Google Photos, I wonder whether I should also back up to Adobe CC Express so the photos might be more easily synchronized

to LRC. I also do not remember how much photo memory I am eligible for when I have a subscription service.

Thank you all for any infor mation.

Richard

Hi Richard,

If you use Lightroom rather than Lightroom Classic all of your photos should be stored online here: lightroom.adobe.com/ You can import your Lightroom photos directly into Creative Cloud Express so no additional backups should be necessary.

An easy way to check your storage use is to open the Creative Cloud desktop app and click the cloud shaped icon in the top right next to your avatar

This article also has additional info which may be helpful.

Hope that helps,

Best,

Hi David_B,
Thank you for the information. I went into Lightroom.Adobe.com for the
first time and, indeed, my phone photos were there. However, the images
made from January 5 to February 19 were not. I just started using my new
Android phone around the 1st of the year so I am not sure why the missing
photos are not in the group. It is possible that on a trip to the phone
store the Adobe backup was activated when the LR app was activated on my
phone.
In the meanwhile, if you could tell me how to move images from my phone
into LRC on my desktop I would be forever grateful. I have not managed to
activate a sync function somewhere on the path to success and have been
frustrated by this for quite a while.
Thanks,
Richard Gold

Hi Richard,

You're most welcome, glad to hear that the information I shared was helpful. There's a setting in the LR mobile app that allows you to import all photos when taken automatically. As you suspected, it sounds the LR mobile app may not have been installed or the auto-import setting may have gotten toggled off in relation to the photos that didn't get imported. This article has more info about importing photos into LR on your phone and the auto-import feature, see the "Auto import photos and videos" section. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/import-mobile-android.html

For your second question about Lightroom Classic. Lightroom Classic is designed to access locally stored photos - its catalog is essentially a database of links to all where all your photos are stored locally. The newer version of Lightroom (just called Lightroom) works with images stored on the cloud rather than locally. It  also allows you to access your photos from different devices. The Lightroom mobile app is part of the later (works with the cloud). Generally, you would want to decide to use one or the other, Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, depending on how you work and which app's features make the most sense for your intended use. If you want to import all of the photos into Lightroom Classic you'd need to download them to the computer with Lightroom Classic installed, ensuring you have adequate drive space to do so, and then import them into your catalog from the downloaded location. Adobe has an app for downloading here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/kb/download-lightroom-photos.html Once downloaded, you'd simply import them into your catalog. This kind of thing https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/how-to/import-photos.html

Outside of this instance, I'd recommend researching the differences between Lightroom and Lightroom Classic and figuring out which one makes the most sense for you to use. Here are the results of a quick Google search for Lighroom verus Lightroom Classic which might be helpful educating yourself on the differences

This forum is for Creative Cloud Express, so I'd recommend if you have more Lightroom related questions please head over to those products forums. Lightroom has a great forum community with lots of people who can help. Each product has separate forum too 🙂
