Add Comments to Document

Dear Community,

Is there a way for a signer to add comments to a document? I know of some workarounds which are not really satisfactory:

- the signer can refuse to sign. He/she can then state the reason for the refusal

- the sender can add a text field. Of course, the field will be wherever  the sender has put it. That's not the same as a field placed by the signer at the exact location where the comment needs to be inserted.

Is it possible to add comments? If  not, do you know of any other workarounds?

Kind regards,

Jan

Hey Jan,

The functionality you are looking for is currently not available in Adobe Sign service. However, it completely depends on how the form has been originally creator.

  • Adding notes or comment in the form is only possible with Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader DC.
  • If the creator has set the form's property in such a way that the end user would be able to download it, so that it can be opened using Reader or Acrobat to add comment/notes and send it back after signing.
  • The form should be given permission to download, add comment etc at the time when it was prepared. If it doesn't have permission, then Adobe Sign doesn't let you to make any changes in the form during Sign.

Has this functinality available yet?  We desperately want to add some free text in addition to signing.  As suggestion, you can always show who made the comment.

Any updates on this?

Isn't this feature not available yet? It is important to provide a defined common area for users to comment when signing. Seek a positive response for this.
