Question

Adobe will NOT allow me to Fill and Sign PDF Documents

Greetings,

I have Adobe Acrobat DC (reinstalled 6.13.26 with latest version) on a Macbook Pro M5 using Tahoe 26.5.1. I have used this program for years with no issues where I can create/use my electronic signature or fill in dates, etc. for PDFs that I have created (not created by others that may have certain permissions). Starting yesterday, I had a blue box with a question mark where I would normally click to select my signature. After trying every suggested thing on the internet and it not working, I uninstalled and then reinstalled today. It did not fix it. Instead of the blue box with question mark it is the broken picture with the blue sky, one cloud and mountain.

PLEASE HELP. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

    Hello @jennifer_5632,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed description, that is genuinely helpful context.

The broken image icon you are describing, the blue sky with cloud and mountain, is a known visual symptom reported by other Acrobat users on macOS Tahoe.

Please start by going to Menu > Help > Check for Updates, install any available update, restart your Mac, and check if the behavior changes.

If the issue continues after updating, please share the following so we can investigate further:

    • Your current Acrobat version is under Menu > Help > About Adobe Acrobat

    • Whether you are using a drawn or image-based signature in Fill & Sign

    • Whether this started after a macOS update, an Acrobat update, or both

In the meantime, if you need to sign a document urgently, creating a typed or drawn signature directly in Acrobat is a temporary workaround.

You can also try using Acrobat Web - https://acrobat.com/

Please let us know how it goes after the update and we will take it from there.

Hi, no updates are available, and I definitely restarted a couple of times.

Current version of Acrobat is 2026.001.21662.

I am trying to utilize a pre-drawn signature in Fill & Sign, not one that I actually drew.

This started in the middle of my work day, no macOS update, and no known Acrobat update (though I do not know if they spontaneously update when an update is available).

I think that answers all of your questions, thanks for any help!

@jennifer_5632, thanks for the checking all the suggestion and for providing the information.

    Let us try the following:

    Step 1:

    • Visit Acrobat Web: https://acrobat.com/ login with same Adobe ID.
    • Go to Fill and Sign - select any PDF file, you will get option similar to Desktop app on left hand side.
    • Click + to add signature, choose image from the dialog, select your pre-drawn signture image and upload.
    • Try signing the document.

    Steps 2:

    • Launch Acrobat > Sign out
    • Re-launch Acrobat and try signing in with same Adobe ID.
    • Choose a file, and try Fill and Sign tool.
    • Wait for a minute and check if you can see the Signature on the left hand panel

If the issue persists, let us know the following:

    • Is your machine personal or office machine.
    • Do you have restricted network

Let us know how it went. And thanks for your patience.
