Question

Append a Document After Signing

Posted this in the main Acrobat forum as well, but this forum seems specific to Sign.

Hello, hoping someone knows the answer to this.  I know that the purpose of signing documents is to secure them.  We are using Adobe Sign, but often, after a document is signed, a corresponding dept (say, HR) needs to catalog the document for future audit/searches/filing.

They normally have fields that they fill in after the file is signed, which they can quickly look at in the future.  In the past, using digital signature fields in the forms, we could specify certain fields to leave open after signing but with Sign, it seems to ignore all that and just locks everything, regardless of form field settings.  Is there any way around this?

We tried to see if there was a way to specify to NOT lock fields when signing but could not find one while using Adobe Sign.

Thank you very much for the reply.  I did already try that, but since I have an adobe enterprise account through my work, they said I need to contact my local admin.  Thing is, none of the local admins have any idea about Adobe, and actually tasked me with finding an answer to this!  It was then suggested that I post in the community and thus I am here.  Seems to be the case often, as IT depts buy a Sign account for everyone to use but do not actually know all the specifics on how it works.

Bump....we are STILL looking for an answer on this.  Looking for a way to be able to append a signed document, or a definitive answer that it simply cannot be done, coming from an Adobe employee.  Thanks!

Bump.  Also, was wondering if there is a way to just keep some text area or something that would not be locked after being signed?  Meaning, not specifically a text field?

(I moved your post to the Adobe Sign forum, but then noticed you already posted that question there, so this is a duplicate now... Stick with the first one: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-sign/append-a-document-after-it-has-been-signed/td-p/11610808?page=1)

Okay, thanks...do you know the answer to the question or how I could get one from Adobe?  Thanks again

Hi, how do I ask Adobe this question directly?
