Does authentication via Email OTP qualify as EU Advanced Electronic Signature?

Question

I am trying to understand if authentication of the signatory through Email OTP only qualify as EU Advanced Electronic Signature when using Adobe Sign, or if another authentication method is required (such as government ID)?

Does Email OTP alone really fulfill the following requirements which must be filfilled to constitute an Advanced Electronic Signature (AES):

The signature must be uniquely connected to the person signing it.
It must be capable of identifying the specific person who created the signature.

HiAnne,Please ensure that you have enabled the Digital Signatures option in Acrobat Sign preferences. The Digitial signature field is available only when one or both the options listed below are enabled in account settings:Download and Sign With AcrobatCloud SignaturesFor detailed information, please refer to the following help document:Overview of Digital Signatures in Adobe Acrobat Sign.If you are using Acrobat Sign individual plan, and access the service only via desktop or Acrobat web, then use the following steps to access Acrobat Sign preferences window:Open the Acrobat web account.Sign in with the Adobe ID you use for Acrobat Sign.Click on the Profile icon on top right and select settings.In the settings window, scroll down till E-siganture settings and click on Edit settings.Then under Account settings, select Digital Signatures.Mark the option you require and click on the OK button to save the changes.Now see if you can see the Digital signature option in the list of signature fields.Let us know how it goes.Thanks,Meenakshi

HiAnne,Thank you for reaching out.The authentication of the signatory through Email OTP by itself should not be assumed to automatically qualify as an EU Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) under eIDAS. While Email OTP adds an additional verification step,it is a single-factor authentication method because both the signing invitation and the OTP are delivered to the same email account.We recommend certificate-based digital signatures from trusted providers when AES-level assurance is required. Theauthentication method is just an additional verification step.
