Field from Salesforce into Template - Formatting

Question

How can I format a text field on an Adobe Sign template so it displays as currency ? $0.00

The field in the PDF is a text field, do I need to format the field in Salesforce so it already has the $ sign, or can I format the field so when it receive the number it formats it correctly ?
