How to combine signed agreement as they shows as protected?

Hello, I sent out a PDF for signatures and was returned signed but now it's password protected with a password I never created or established. Is there a default password that is assigned to the document when it has been signed? I would like to be able to combine all related documents into one portfolio but it says it requires a password which I as the author didn't set up...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

After a PDF is signed, it is secured so that it stays in the same state as it was signed. This is necessary for legality.

As an admin, there is a setting in Adobe Sign, under Global Settings that allows you to merge multiple documents into one document after signing. But this is for when you send out multiple documents for signature.

If you have Acrobat, you can package all your PDFs into a Portfolio.

All of the 'fixes' listed require opening the document.  I can't open the document because it requires a password which I didn't set.  How do I find out what the password is?

Ask the person who sent it to you.

They didn't set the password either, at least not intentionally, so they don't know what it would be.

You can combined signed documents as a porfolio.  Make sure these settings are used.

SOLVED

Stupid bug. Have exactly the same problem. Figured it happened when I signed the document and saved it. All of a sudden it was password protected and I couldn't make changes anymore to it. Although I never set a pw.

Open the pw protected .pdf file in ADOBE, then EXPORT A PDF >TO MICROSOFT WORD DOC

then open the word doc in word and save as .pdf.

the font of the original pdf might be slightly different but better than nothing. good luck ! and shame on ADOBE

Hi,

Has anything new been found out? Is there a way I can set a generic password for the secured document without having the signer enter the password?

All I need to do is combine signed documents into one document. I did the portfolio but that won't work because they are on a Mac and use Preview for viewing PDFs.

Hi Rachel31543102v7id,

Thank you for reaching out.

In Acrobat Sign, if the document is signed and filed, it gets encrypted. The only way to combine the file is Combine them as a PDF portfolio. This is for the security of the document.

You may share your suggestion on this with the team here: https://adobesign.uservoice.com/forums/21617-acrobat-sign-general.

Hope the information helps.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hello,

For our document retension purposes I cannot save as a portfolio. I did not select to password protect any of my documents and it is only in the last week that things have returned to me with passwords assigned. None of the signers applied this option and we do not know the password to make changes to the encryption.

How do I turn off the auto-password protection encryption in Adobe Sign and what would the default password be to unlock the documents I have? Saving as a portfolio or converting everything to a Word document and re-saving them is not a viable option.

Hi - just wanted to check if this issue was resolved? I'm now getting this issue and I don't know where the password has come from?

In what way is that an answer ?! I have just sent a signed document without having been asked to create a password and have now got a copy back that I cannot open ! Am I now supposed to buy a licence for Adobe Sign to find out what it is ?!

Open the document that is locked and "Print" Microsoft Print to PDF then open the new copy 🙂

Unfortunately this isn't working for me...

I didn't set my document with a password, but in order to edit the signed document Adobe is asking for a password. I need to edit the document as the text boxes have not automatically resized and my recipient has continued entering text, which is cut off.  I have tried the above suggestion, however the cut-off text hasn't come through.

Any other suggestions?!
