Question

I was sent a document that lists my old name. How do I change this to reflect my actual name?

Someone sent me a document to sign and I noticed that the name listed there is an old married name that I have not used in over 10 years. My Adobe account has my current name and I cannot for the life of me figure out how or why that old name is being used.

    Hi @Giddy_Twinkle6a7e ,

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

    A couple of quick questions:

    • Have you ever used Acrobat Sign before, even years ago, possibly under that old married name?

    • Is the document still waiting for your signature, or has it already been signed?

Here's what's likely going on: Acrobat Sign pulls the signer's displayed name from their Acrobat Sign profile, not from your general Adobe account. If you had an Acrobat Sign account at some point under your old name, that name can stick around there even if your main Adobe profile shows your current name.

A couple of things that can help:

    1. Please check the steps shared in the help page on this: helpx.adobe.com/sign/using/sign-require-recipient-name.html
    2. To update your own name in Acrobat Sign: mouse over your name in the upper-right corner to open the menu, and click "My Profile", then edit and save your name there. Full steps here: helpx.adobe.com/sign/using/user-profile-setting.html Adobe
    3. If you're signing via an Adobe ID and don't see an active edit option in My Profile, there's a separate path through Manage Account, details here: helpx.adobe.com/sign/web/kb/change-adobe-sign-profile-name-for-adobe-id.html
    4. If the document hasn't been signed yet, the sender can also fix this from their end by editing your name on their Manage page before you sign, worth asking them if you'd rather not deal with your own profile settings.

Let us know how it goes.
