Multiline Merge fields (Salesforce)

So I need to make a merge field that is capable of presenting multiple lines of data. Right now the field works, but cuts off after 1 line.

I found a text tag rule (multiline), but when I add it to the text tag it stops populating in the document.

Maybe this rule can only be applied to text fields that are _es_? Or is there something I'm missing?
