Number Formatting Changes after document signed

I have formatted a contract so that the payment amounts are written as $x,xxx.xx.  I do the document up and send it to the client, but when they sign and return it, the formatting is different.  There is no $ sign and no commas or cents (when there are no cents).  I have attached a 'before signature" and "after signature" picture so you can see the difference.  The $200.00 is the only amount that stays the same as this is a Fixed Amount.  Any advice would be appreciated.
