Post Code problems - in the UK

I have a customer who is very irrated by not being able to insert his post code - message keeps coming up "invalid".  It isn't - I have checked it myself.

How can I help him get round this situation - he is extremely fed up and will go elsewhere if this situation is not resolved.

His post code (UK) is ME16 8AX and yes, he has tried with and without space between the 6 and 8!

Please HELP as soon as possible.
