How do I send the document for signature through a personal email with a link that leads to the document rather then the generic eSign email?

As you are using Adobe Sign individual account you will not be able to access the Widget feature. As Widget feature is only available in Adobe Sign Business & Enterprise accounts.

Please upgrade to avail this feature:

I would recommend to use Widget functionality with which you can generate URL which can be shared within your personal email to the signers. Here is the link for reference:
