Question

When using multiple Templates in one binder, Template seems to lose CONDITIONS

I have created various templates to send to clients. Some clients only get one, but many get various combinations of the same templates. A few of the templates contain CONDITIONS. As an example, if you add verbiage into a different designated field, then it will SHOW the field for the borrower to add the pertinent information. (IE: SHOW this field when ANY of the following condition(s) is true. FIELD NAME (Creditor 1, Name I created) is  , then the next box is left blank)) When I send out just one template by itself, it works as it should. However, if I send multiple templates together, then I get this error, "Field names have been updated to avoid conflicts across multiple templates." When this happens I notice that the field names are changed and the condition does not work correctly. Furthermore, I have changed the standard field names in the original templates so that they would not conflict with each other, but this does not seem to fix it. I am certain that I am missing a small step in order for the conditions to remain fixed with multiple templates. Please help or direct me in the right direction.

I would just like to report that we are also encountering exactly the same issue, despite each field having a unique name. After many days of trying different options, we merged all the PDFs together and then applied the form field layer templates to each section of the document. It seemed to mostly resolve it, but there's still a few pesky conditional fields that aren't working as expected.

I'd hope that this matter is resolved soon, as the templates lose their efficacy if you cannot bind them together in different configurations, as needed.

Hi cstc_pty_ltd,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

Please share the templates and the screen recording of what happens. It will help us to further investigate this behaviour.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi kerri_9181,

Thank you for reaching out.

The issue might occur when multiple files have the same form field name. Please try changing the names of the fields in the templates before sending them, and check if the issue still occurs.

Please refer to the following help document on form fields: https://adobe.ly/42EIZRm

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi, Thank you for the quick response. I failed to mention that i
changed every field name on every template to ensure that were not 2 of the
same name. I found a temporary work around where I use the older version of
acrobat sign. This works as it should. But my fear is that when it
migrates over to the new version at the end of May that the problems will
start again? I would like to try to fix it for both versions. It seems
that with the new version, the system automatically changes field names
even if there are not duplicate names?

Warmest Regards,

Hi kerri_9181 ,

Sorry about the delay in getting back.

If you still experience the same behavior with the new experience, we would need more information to investigate this behavior further.

Could you please share a small video showing the issue? Also, please share the template files with us so we can replicate this for further investigation. This will ensure that we follow the same steps as you.

Feel free to let us know if you need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
