Question

A word of caution

Just a little warning to contributors.

I recently submitted a photo which was refused with a “quality” rejection.
After examining the photo, I did find some issues that might have been the cause for the rejection so I corrected them and resubmitted. Unfortunately, the photo was once again rejected. I decided to replace the background which I now determined might have been too noisy. A sigh of relief, on the third submission the photo was accepted!

Now, I have received an email that my account has been flagged as “spamming” and these three photos were given as the assets resulting in my warning.

Was it wrong to try and correct my “quality” mistake? I don’t think so. However, it is obvious that all submissions (approved and rejected) are used when flagging “spamming”. When repeated, this will result in an account being deactivated.

    I don’t think AI has had a lot of training when it comes to sports and games. It understands the objects, but not the rules.

    @daniellei4510,

    This is a little off-topic, but it hilariously demonstrates that AI is spatially unaware.

    I have been advising others to re-submit only once after re-editing, then “move on” if it’s rejected a second time, though there have been few reports of Contributors actually receiving a “spamming” notice. It’s useful to know that the threat of a spamming warning is a “real thing”. Sorry you had to be the one to encounter it, though….

    Sounds like maybe another bot is in play? I think there have been three occasions in three years where I’ve submitted an asset a third time, but by the third attempt, it is barely the same image. Of course, I only submit AI, so I have plenty of room to take an image to a different level. I think waiting a few weeks and changing file names by the third time can also be of help, in case the file name is being saved to recognize repeated submissions. But yes, caution must be taken more so than ever apparently. Thanks for the head up.

    The top image below was rejected. No doubt the low depth of field and the ridiculous number of lights were at least two of possibly many issues, I’m sure. I tried to make those corrections and resubmit, but one thing led to another until it became a completely different image with new keywords, file name, and title. It was accepted.

    Yeah, the 8 ball was probably the only thing that didn’t need fixing, @Oh.N8 :) Well...not quite. In the original generation, the guy was using the 8 ball to aim at the cue ball. I’ve experimented quite a bit games (bowling, chess, checkers). I don’t think AI has had a lot of training when it comes to sports and games. It understands the objects, but not the rules.

    They are upgrading their system. They may now have new tools to weed out resubmissions. But it is somewhat irritating that a successful submission is labelled as spam here.

    In any case, this confirms our long-standing advice that you should not submit anything repeatedly until you find a moderator who will pass the image on.

    It would seem twice is ok, but a third time is pushing one’s luck. (As it turned out.) Stricter rules!
