Hi everyone,

First off, I am newbie in photography with zero experience but I have spare time and really keen to learn from experts here in this community. For trial purposes, I submitted my first ever two photos and as you can expect, they were rejected for quality. issues. I am pretty sure the image had more issues than that LOL. However, I am posting it here if anyone is kind enough to give constructive feedback on these photos for me to learn from pls? Your time is greatly appreciated.

To start with, learn about composition. It is very important to know how to place picture elements within a frame!

Depth of Field is too shallow in both, and the first image lacks a clear focal point. Adobe Stock isn't the place to learn about photography- it's where experienced photographers come to sell their professional quality images. There are many online and local photography training resources. Invest some time in education and practice, practice, practice. Photography can be a very engaging and fun hobby, and eventually you might even be able to sell some images.

Hi Jill, thank you for your valuable feedback. I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I will start looking for online and local photography training resources as you mentioned. It is daunting seeing how good everyone is in here but I guess I will just focus on what I really want to do. It is a pleasure to be reading advices from the expert like you are. Thank you again.

I bought my first DSLR in 2008, a Canon Digital Rebel, which seems rather quaint in comparison to the equipment I have now. I was absolutely obsessed with getting better at photography. I took several evening courses at Stanford University and practiced relentlessly. The camera was always with me. I brought it in my briefcase to work and took it out with me on my lunchtime walks. Other than learning the basics of exposure and composition, the best thing you can do is shoot a lot! Good luck in your photography journey.

The greatest gift of digital photography is also it's biggest liability.

You will learn much faster and in real time, by not worrying about the cost of film and process, or waiting to see what you did. My advice is to slow down on your execution, and spend more time (without rush) observing and marveling the world around you. Don't worry about shooting too much of a particular scene, the more the merrier. Just make sure that you keep checking focus as you think about what you are seeing in your composition. I would also look thru the view finder as much as you can, this will help you concentrate on what you see without distractions.

I've said here many times that the tripod is the most under valued tool in the photographer's kit. Learn to. use it as you learn to shoot in manual, it will accelarate the learning curve, and slow you down forcing you to pay more attention to what you see.

I noticed you had some weird issue in your post production, what happened there? Be very carful with the slightes mistake editing, a forced error guranteeing rejections.

I will share some pages from my 45 Minute Phtoography course, read it as often as you need to make the principles second nature.

Above all, have fun! After 30+ years working as a professional photographer, I am having as much fun as ever shooting for myself and adding work to my stock library.

Hi mate, thank you so much for your valuable insight about photography. I really like how you said "marveling at the world around you" while doing photography. That idea actually inspires me to try photography myself, as I truly appreciate the beauty in simple things. Thanks for the reply to reply. Since I was very young I had a curiosity for the world around me. And fell in love with photography at 22, and made an abrubt career change... yet it was about 15 years later that I realize my deep curiosity for things people and places, that I realized why I had fallen in love and passion for photography.

Now I also understand that is something we can discover at any stage in life.

I'd be happy to see you progress, so make sure you share your photos.
