Question

Better to Downsize?

Trying to wrap my head around something: There appears to be very little correlation between my levels of sharpness, focus, and clarity and what gets accepted or not… it appears to be totally random.  I especially wish this particular rejection reason presented some kind of discernible pattern so I could make course corrections.

I generally work on illustrations at around 30 – 40 megapixels, and then submit at full working size. But since  Adobe’s minimum is 4 megapixels — does it make sense to downsize them to about 4mp when I’m finished, before sending?  Moderators zooming in close will hit pixel resolution zoom-in limits before they see any kind of micro softness to a sharp edge.

Sorry, maybe I wasn’t really clear. I’ve been contributing here since 2020 and I know the requirements.  My first paragraph was really the point of the question: Different submissions. Same general size and resolution. Same illustration style and use of digital brushes. Same sharpness from one picture to the next.  And yet....  some rejected on sharpness-focus-resolution, some not.

It’s just seems so random and capricious lately. Honestly, I’d be perfectly comfortable with Adobe Stock telling me:  “Yeah, we just don’t really like that one.”  Then I’d move on and not wonder about it. Then my only mission moving forward is to make a cooler image that they do like.

    1. The submissions requirements were revised in June. Many things have changed since 2020.
    1. What makes you think some were rejected for “sharpness-focus-resolution?” That’s not a refusal reason. See the refusal reasons below:

4 megapixels is the minimum size required for a postage stamp. 100 megapixels is the maximum size allowed for a large poster or display ad.  Illustrations should be submitted at the size that’s most appropriate to your actual workspace.

For more details, read through all the requirements in your Contributor User Guide.
