Difference between photo and illustration

I am REALLY confused on how to submit some of my hybrid items.
Take the sinking dollar. Two photos were merged to produce this. Is this a photo or an illustration?

Take the outhouse. Two photo were merged to produce this plus a non-photo sign was placed on the door. Is this a photo or an illustration?

Most of my submissions are straight photos or illustrations... but sometimes.

I don't know if you really should make a buzz on this. The content for sure is illustrative. But the source are photos. So classify them as photos.

And IMHO they will be refused because of technical issues.
