Does anyone have any ideas as to why these illustrations were rejected?

3rd image: too many problems to mention.

  • Torso halves are mismatched.
  • Background design is a mess. 
  • Painterly style effects aren't working...

Discard it and try again. 

 

Less is more.  Don't over-stylize artwork with fancy filters & special fx

The skin tones seem too exaggerated in the first image and more plastic in appearance than skin in the bottom two. I circled some areas that could use some retouching as well.
