FAO: MatHayward -- Adding AI to Stock Contributor Submissions

Hi @MatHayward,

I'm fascinated with MidJourney AI.  It's a powerful tool with endless potential.  I'm eager to start using it in my own artwork.

As a paid subscriber, MidJourney currently gives copyright of all assets I create with the tool.   But IP laws concerning AI creation tools have not been revised yet.

Question:  What is Adobe Stock's policy on contributors incorprating our MidJourney assets into Stock submissions?

Thanks,

Well it looks like Adobe have jumped on the AI bandwagon afterall.  It was announced at this year's MAX conference.

As the saying goes, if you can't compete with something, embrace & integrate it.  You can read more about how Adobe are bringing generative AI to Photoshop and Adobe Express below.

Also keep in mind pending legislation (especially in the EU) surrounding use and restrictions of AI:

The AI Act bans the use of certain types of AI-based techniques (e.g. social scoring, real-time biometric remote identification (subject to exceptions), “subliminal techniques”).

That wouldn't limit art as art… This is more of a privacy and fake news protection.

Good Day All!

Question:  Can AI art be used for stock photos?

Currently, there are no established rules for this. However, there are some ongoing discussions.

I would guess if you submit, AI art will be vetted like any other submission. May be you would be interested also in this post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock-contributors-discussions/fao-mathayward-adding-ai-to-stock-contributor-submissions/td-p/13192526 from @Nancy OShea .
