Filling out form W-8BEN

I am a resident of Canada, which has a tax treaty with the U.S. I am currently submitting form W-8BEN to be exempted from withholding tax on Adobe stock earnings. I have indicated that I'm a resident of Canada on Line 9, but I'm not sure how to fill out line 10. Should I say I'm claiming the provisions of Article XII of the treaty identified on line 9 to claim a 30% rate of withholding on royalty income from the sale of photography stock? And what reasons do I give on the line that follows?

I'm sorry but we are not able to provide tax form assistance of advice through the forum. My recommendation is to contact a local tax advisor for help.

Hey,

If you haven't figured it out yet, check this link out. I'm on the same boat as you (I also live in Canada, so I'm going through the same thing): https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w8
