Question

future of contributors after a year?

I'm eager to hear thoughts on how new talent can survive and succeed amid such competition With Adobe Stock's impressive 672 million total assets and 266 million AI images that too in just 2 years, plus about 1 million new uploads each day, how can beginner contributors make their mark?

Let me say this:

  1. The best time to upload generative AI assets was 2 years ago. Now the database is saturated, and you will need to put considerable effort in to distinguish yourself from the masses. That was to be expected. I also suspect that many of the early birds doing massive automatic uploads have been banned by now, as they preferred masses before quality.
  2. Anyone can decide for himself, if it is worth the effort. Stock is not a get rich fast industry, and the more assets there are the more scenes are present multiple times. And a lot is scrap, because early on, moderators did not correctly check the assets. Even know, I wonder how they moderate.
  3. The beginner of today is the seasoned contributor of the next years, if they do not expect the get-rich-fast effect.

At best, Stock is a nice way to earn a modest 2nd income. It will never replace your primary job, if that's what you're asking.

There are people in low income countries that are doing this for a living, because doing USD 100 a week is different from location to location. It would not pay my electricity bill, but others can make a good living of that.

On the Discord channel, I've learned that many Contributors, probably in developing countries, are quite dependent on their Adobe Stock income, and in some cases it is their only income. I think this rarely occurred in the pre-AI era, because of the necessary investment in cameras, lenses, computers, etc. However, in the AI era, startup costs are next to nothing and contributors can generate images on their phones.. This is a good news/bad news scenario. The good news is that AI has provided some income for people who desperately need it; the bad news is that it's not reliable nor sustainable.

Well...a lot depends on your definition of success.

New Contributors of what? Which type of assets are you submitting?
