I took the portrait of Alvin and Chippy sitting on the sofa. I used AI tools to enhance the image. Chippy's blue eyes are real; they were not enhanced. Would this be considered an AI image or a photograph?

I have a question. The two dogs were posed in this position, and I took them with my camera. Blue eyes are real. I used AI tools to fix the picture up. This be considered an AI-generated image.

If any portion of your content contains GenAI, it must be labeled as GenAI.

Artificial background replacement is GenAI.

This is another picture from the series, which I think is much better. Then I started messing with the AI, and I think it actually ruined the image. The golden retriever was not changed at all in this image. The AI made Chippy's hair look nicer. They were both posed in this position with three people holding Chippy in place.

I will try to take a snapshot of Chippy's blue eyes to prove they are her blue eyes.

This all started from one question about a hybrid image. The pose is real. Alvin is identical. Chippy's hair was made to look better. Her eyes were not changed. I did put this up as AI. It was refused the first time. I put this image up this time, and I'll see if it's accepted.

Curious. When you used the image as a reference to request changes, did you use the entire image, or just the cropped areas you wanted changed or replaced? Because here’s the important thing to remember. The image on the left below is a real photograph, taken nearly 30 years ago (so not so much as a pixel of AI; just basic edits). I then dropped it into chatGPT and prompted it to regenerate the image without making any changes to the subject or composition. I wanted the final result to be exactly as the original.

Never the less, when I ran the real photograph through an AI detector, this was the result:

When I ran the chatGPT image through the AI detector, this was the result:

So whether you ask for changes or not, the entire image is still affected. Even if you tell the AI not to change anything. So blue eyes or not, a cropped image of the small dog alone resulted in a 99% chance of being AI generated. When you don’t want the entire image to be affected, only copy and paste the areas you want affected.

But my point here isn’t really about the dog or the dog’s eyes. The point is, if a contributor uses the entire image to make even the SLIGHTEST instruction to change even the SMALLEST thing, Adobe is probably going to mark the asset as untagged AI.

I generated the whole image. I don't know how to generate pieces of the image. When the dog's eyes are blown up that big, they do look fake. But I assure you, they are the color of her eyes.

Did you add the lettering on the pillow using AI?

I sell that pillow in my Etsy store. DM me if you want to know the name of the store.

Color adjustments would generally not fall under the category of AI. However, I think the eye color change is too strong, distracting, and unrealistic compared to the rest of the image.

Dogs with “blue eyes” have a genetic mutation similar to albinism that causes a lack of pigment color in the iris. Light scatters instead of reflecting brown. It may look artificial, even though it’s not.

Understood, but even the fur on the dogs appears heavily AI edited. And if the entire image in general received AI treatment, I suspect the dogs eyes were affected somewhat as well. This should definitely be tagged as AI.

GenAI tools inject trackers into your image metadata.

Open the image in Adobe Bridge, Lightroom or Photoshop.

Go to File> File Info… to see the metadata.

So. Is this a photograph or an AI image? I did process it in AI, but I don't see any trackers. So again, I'm asking: what do I put this up as? It is a heavily edited picture. The pose is real. The dogs are real. They are my dogs. And the blue eyes are very real. It is a mix of a photograph and AI. I looked at the metadata on this image, and it did not have any camera information. I looked at an image that was not edited at all, and it also did not have any camera information. I wouldn't have a problem putting it up as AI, but I do know that regular pictures sell better. This is a hybrid image.
