What happens if I want to add a photo of a real, deceased person, such as a political figure, and I can't obtain image rights?

Stock does not accept public domain images.

The length of time after death before a person's likeness can be used commercially varies by region. Some states offer protection for 70 years, 100 years, or even indefinitely.

If it is a picture of a public figure in a public setting, you may have a chance to submit it as editorial with some stock databases. Adobe stock, however, does not allow that.

You simply can't add the picture. You need the signed model release from the deceased person, which is obviously not possible.

Adobe Stock requires that any image containing a recognizable person be accompanied by a model release, even if the person is deceased. If you can't get this permission, Adobe Stock will likely reject the photo.

People who cannot obtain a model release cannot be registered.

Even if the person's face is not in the photo, please make sure to register the person on Adobe Stock. (This can cause problems.)

When searching Adobe Stock, no recent presidents are registered.

This is probably because a model release is not available.
