Improving a Photo Rejected for Exposure

Hello,

In my first effort at uploading images, this was rejected for "exposure issues". Is it due to underexposure? I did this for mood. Other than exposure, I would appreciate any feedback on composition, B&W conversion and quality of the image for stock photography.

Hi, bcritelli, The photo is quite dark, I cannot see all the interesting details.  Also, it is a black and white picture and Adobe does not buy many of these, even if perfect and unusual. You can give this photo a lighter exposure and resubmit to see if it is accepted.

As for your looking for a certain mood, the buyer will want to change the stock photo purchased and set the desired mood. We are frequently told to leave it as natural as possible. You may benefit from reading all about things that sell and things that are rejected in Adobe Guidelines for Contributors. Best regards, JH

As a rule of thumb: any conversion that can be done by the buyer (ie bw conversion, saturation, resizing) should be left to the users appreciation and need. A colour picture can be turned to bw but not the other way. There is less artistic and more basic treatment to be done before upload. Basic treatment is edititing out any disturbing details, adjusting the white balance, getting a crisp but not over sharped image, setting the contrasts correctly, straighten the image correctly, correcting lens errors and aberation.

    Hi there,

    You could post here an example of the colour version before you upload/resubmit to get some feedback. As Joan said, Adobe don't want B&W treatment. Don't worry about mood. Mood can be conveyed in your composition when you take the photo for example.The buyer can use filters to create the mood according to their project.

    You should also follow the links at the top of the Adobe Stock Contributor forum page to get an idea of how Adobe Stock works. Reading it is rather useful as it will answer many questions one may have.
