“intellectual property issue” rejection again

Got hit with another “intellectual property issue” rejection. Apparently, my photo contains something so top secret that even I can’t identify it. If there’s a hidden logo or trademark in there, it’s doing a better job of hiding than most fugitives.

And while we’re on the topic, I’ve been getting way too many “similar content” rejections lately. So I ran a little experiment — I resubmitted a photo they’d already accepted before. Guess what? Accepted again. I deleted it afterward, but now I’m starting to think the moderation system might be using a dartboard.

As often, it's in plain sight… 😂

We all agree that the similar rejection issue is, or at least seems to be flawed. Adobe is persuaded that the system is working as it should. My most intelligent guess is that there is some magic algorithm checking the whole database, based on very secret data, and issues a report to the moderator.

Logos, decals, license plates, merchant signs, etc... Any & all can all trigger a strike for IP.

Submitting duplicate assets, not to be confused with "similar content," is a violation of contributor terms that could get your account blocked or terminated. Don't do that again, even as a test.

This is what Stock says about rejections for "similar content."

I understand the policy on duplicates. The reason for my test with a duplicate was actually to try to figure out where the line is drawn for 'similar content,' since a duplicate is the most extreme example of similarity. I know the machine can pick up exact duplicates, but it didn't...  So, it must be that human moderators are doing it manually—rejecting images based on perceived similarity. Could you explain the standards the human moderators use for similar content? That's the part that's still a bit unclear to me. I am sure many fellow contributors out there are dealing with the same issue too.

Not sure how this relates to similar content. Just a wild guess, but there are dozens if not hundreds of moderators and one wouldn't know if you had submitted the same image previously. The similar content issue is much more complicated an issue.

I hadn't considered that. If the system isn't automatically picking up duplicate images, it makes me wonder what guidelines or basis the moderators are using to make those judgment calls.

We suspect a bot is looking at keywords and titles. Either the moderators never see the images, or they see them as flagged as possible similar content and make an executive decision. I've had nearly 400 similar content rejections. Or is it 500? Or 300? I don't know. I just brush them off anymore. Or I edit a few to one extent or another, change or re-order the keywords, and resubmit them at some point down the road. I don't worry about submitting assets that I BELIEVE will be rejected for similar content, since those are accepted more often than not.
