Question

Low downloads for 4K video portfolio and Free Collection advice

Inquiry Regarding Low Downloads for 4K Video Portfolio and Free Collection Options

Dear Adobe Stock Support Team,

I am writing to seek your expert advice regarding my contributor portfolio. Over the past 10 months, I have consistently uploaded 265 high-quality 4K stock video assets (not pictures) across various categories, including technology, fiber-optic data streams, scientific animations, and industrial concepts.

Despite regular uploads and hard work, I have only received 5 downloads so far. Could you please review my portfolio and help me understand why my download rate is so low? Any specific technical, metadata, or market-demand suggestions to improve my visibility and sales would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I noticed the option to nominate my eligible video assets for the free collections:

Annual Free Collection (for 1 year, offering $7.00 per asset if selected).

Perpetual Free Collection (permanently, offering $16.00 per asset if selected).

Could you please advise which option is better for my video portfolio? Should I choose the 1-year annual collection or the perpetual collection for all my eligible assets to maximize my earnings and growth?

Thank you for your time and guidance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Yousaf Khan

They normally only select a very small percentage. Or sometimes none at all.

There is anecdotal evidence that downloads have been slow for everyone, for all types of assets, over the past few months. If you ONLY have 265 assets in your portfolio, 5 downloads isn’t bad comparitively speaking with those who have thousands.

As for the free collection, that is entirely up to you. Only a very small percentage of the nominated assets are chosen. I’ve read of examples where contributors have OK’d the nominations of hundreds of assets where only as few as a small handful, if any, were ultimately selected. You probably do NOT want to select any assets that have already sold, as those have a better chance of being sold on a regular basis.

You can select either 1 year or permanent, or both. In my case, I only had 3 videos nominated, which, oddly enough, were the same three nominated last year but were not selected.

Hi danielle4510, thank you for your advice! As you mentioned not to include files that already get downloads, I checked my assets. Adobe automatically nominated 45 of my assets for the 1-year Free Collection, showing about $7 per file for a year, which totals up to $315 for all 45 files. These particular files had no downloads at all for the past 10 months, so I went ahead and enabled the 1-year option for them. Could you please tell me if all of these nominated assets will be accepted, or if Adobe selects only a few of them
