My portfolio doesn't appear.. simple solution

Several users have reported that they are unable to see their portfolio when they click on 'My Portfolio' in the dashboard, in fact I'm one of them.

I discovered this simple way to view images in my portfolio.

When you click 'my portfolio' and don't see your images:

  1. Navigate to url, it's form is like "https://stock.adobe.com/eg/contributor/0000000/username"
  2. Edit the country abbreviation to any other country, something like UK or FR

It's common knowledge that restricted countriese like Egypt do not show all the assets in the database. This is because some local laws require additional vetting of the assets and Adobe did chose to split the world into two categories: restricted and unrestricted countries. The assets for restricted countries will experience additional vetting and the vetting is done according to the laws of the most restricting country in this group.

As checking the portfolio is looking at your assets like a customer from your region, you will see only those assets that got additional vetting. As this additional vetting is costly, Adobe does only do this for assets that have some success. So any newer account will start with 0 assets in this collection. Ergo: all new users in restricted countries won't be able to see their assets. No people in their country will be able to buy their assets. This is an issue if your assets are targeted to the local market. It's not an issue if your assets are sellable in unrestricted areas.

BTW: if you use fr as a country code replacement, you will get the screen in French, with de, you'll get the German version. You can't buy any of those assets, however, even if checking my account or any other account. You can buy only what is shown by using your original country code.

My assets are also restricted in your country btw, but as my portfolio is pointing also to my unrestricted country code, I will never see any trouble to this.

That's frustrating. The restricted assets are not a small number at all, when you search for 'red jewelry' you get +100,000 results on the UK page compared to about 1,000 in Egypt.

I'm not primarily a buyer, but I like to see how my portfolio looks to others. Also, my portfolio shows up on my laptop, but not on my phone or computer. However they are both on the same network and the same country.

By the way, thanks for the detailed response.

Sure, but it's the same for all of us. And check this: there are probably 100k buyers in UK and 1k buyers in Egypt (I made up those numbers, but the proportions should be like that). You also should look at them the other way around. All assets are restricted, then some of them get additional vetting. The vetting is based on the asset's success on a moving scale. What was enough 10 years ago to get vetted, is today by far no more enough.

Users rarely search via the portfolio of a contributor. They are not interested to buy specifically your asset or my asset, but they want to buy an asset that fulfills their need. They do not care if it is yours or mine or someone elses asset.

Sometimes, customers from your country try to fool the system and do a project with a comp object that they then find out that can't be licensed in their region. That is frustrating. For the customer, not for us contributors.

As on all machines, you are using a browser to view the assets, if you do apply the same manipulation on all device, the result should be identical.

Yes, it's common knowledge that some countries restrict & block content until it goes through a second vetting process by their "decency police" or whatever they call themselves.

Known countries with restrictions include Turkey, Indonesia & Qatar among others.

Changing country codes to unblocked regions like US, UK or CA usually work fine.
