Hi. I am new to stock photos contributor space. I recently submitted 4 photographs in food photography category taken from my Canon EOS T7. I would like to know a little more detailed feedback on these images so I can make changes while capturing and photoshop editing and or filtering. Thanks!

Unfortunately, all of your images are extremely noisy, not sharply focused and poorly lit and composed. Additionally, you would need a product release for the soda can that appears in a couple of the images. For comparison and inspiration, check out the food images from Andrew Scrivani, a professional food photographer, on Adobe Stock. I think he also has a tutorial on YouTube.

Stock Food photography is a specialty that transcends what we see on Instagram.  Since we can't use taste & smell to guide us, visual presentation is everything.

A Stock example that uses good contrasts, colors and visual design elements.

  • Experiment with different focal distances, lights and camera angles (both overhead and eye level).
  • Add visual interest with bowls, wooden utensils, woven baskets or colored napkins.
  • Look through thrift shops & 2nd hand stores for interesting props you can use in food photography staging.

Hope that helps.  Good luck with your next submission.
