New Payment Options

Over the last few years the likes of Paypal and Payoneer or forever increasing their exchange rate / transfer fees. As Adobe is keen to help its contributors maybe it’s about time for a revision of the options available. Either by way of adding your own bank account details, Like Alamy does. The fees involved would be far more reasonable.

Or, the addition of Wise (formerly TransferWise) who also have fees that are less painful.

Making stock imagery can be hard enough and the fact that the current companies that Adobe offer as payment methods take nearly 5% of income, it feels like Adobe could really make a name for themselves by offering something like Wise as an option.

Anyway, forever hopeful that this could someday be done as it would make a very meaningful difference. Cheers

    Welcome to 21st century banking.

My great-grandparents saved money in a mattress until they could afford to buy their first home. That’s how things were done 100+ years ago. But not anymore.

Modern laws require money to have a providence trail that can be traced by more than one financial institution. This is to guard against potential fraud, theft & money laundering.

Unlike PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill, Wise doesn’t provide much protection. Transactions involving digital goods, services, custom orders, or non-trackable deliveries do not qualify for protection by Wise. And if you use Wise to send money directly to a seller and get scammed, Wise cannot guarantee you a refund. They’re a payment transfer service, not an escrow service.

Adobe has a responsibility to work with reliable payment partners to protect themselves as well as contributors. For that reason, Wise is not offered as a direct payment option unless it’s a bridge through your bank.

In that case, the ideal would be something like Alamy does. Just set it up and no need to request funds each month they’re just release once the pass the minimum payment amount.

Alamy is owned by PA Media Group, a UK-based news & information business.  They operate by different business & tax rules from Adobe which is a California corporation.

Hold my beer.  5% of $10 isn’t enough to buy a sack of chicken manure.

Compared to the fees that businesses incur from merchant banks, processors, gateways, and PCI complaint shopping terminals as well as specific credit cards, you’ve got nothing to complain about. Adobe’s doing all the heavy & expensive lifting for you while you sit back & collect royalty fees.

Sorry, I’m not more sympathetic. But banking fees are the basic cost of doing business. Deal with it. Exchange rates fluctuate based on global currency valuations.  That’s beyond our control.

5% of a few $1000 is a quite a bit though each month. We don’t all earn $10. This isn’t money Adobe is making, it’s third parties as well. I’m quite surprised a community expert can be quit so dismissive of hard working contributors who have submitted significant amounts of work over the years and helped Adobe make a fair bit of money themselves.

And just to clarify, this is asking for something like Wise as a payment option, just like Payoneer was added… I never asked Adobe to change the exchange rates / markets or anything else you went off in a tangent about.

And before you say if your earning that amount you can afford it… bear in mind this is my main/sole income and think how you would feel if you lost 5% of your salary on fees each month in addition to other taxes. I’m not asking for zero fees either, just the ones applied by normal banks/services… (wise Average Fee: ~0.52% – 0.59% of the transfer amount.)

    • Adobe doesn’t monitor this user-to-user community.
    • Fellow contributors have no influence over what Adobe does.
    • Financial decisions are made by upper level Adobe financial officers who never see these posts.

    From Google Gemini:

    • Adobe Stock: Payouts can be configured via PayPal, Payoneer, or Skrill. Many contributors choose to receive payouts through Payoneer or Skrill, which can subsequently send funds to a Wise account, or use the direct bank transfer option if available in your region.
    • Shutterstock: Supports payments via ACH/direct deposit and Payoneer, both of which can connect to a Wise account if desired.
    • Dreamstime: Offers payout via PayPal, Payoneer, or Skrill, which can be bridged to a Wise account.
    • 123RF: Supports PayPal and direct bank transfers, which work with Wise.
    • Alamy: Offers direct bank transfers, making them a good candidate for receiving funds into a Wise GBP or USD account.

Hope that helps answer your questions.
