Question

Photo quality. Could someone help me figure out what the quality issue is with these photos?

The image is sharp, not overexposed, and looks good to me, yet it was rejected due to quality.

    Hi @sharp_amazement059c

You have two nice shots, but there are visible technical issues as follows:

Both pictures have color fringing and chromatic noise. The camera depth of field was too shallow and the focus was placed on the trash can. As a result the bird did not come into sharp focus. The white balance is also a little off. The capture is too cool. The overall quality of the bird is poor.

    Color fringing on edges

Chromatic noise - Unnatural purple color mixing in the metal color

Overall poor bird quality showcasing grain noise, chromatic noise and color fringing

The second file has a shutter speed issue, resulting in motion blur

    Best wishes

    Jacquelin

I would fix it and try again.

I think it’s a great stock image. But it looks like the crow is put in separately? And the background is unfortunately very disturbing. It should be more blurred.

You could try, but personally, I would move on. It would have been better if you had the crow with something its beak, picking trash form the trash can. I think the background could also still be a problem.

Thanks for all the replies. Do you think it’s worth making some improvements and trying to upload it again?

You can make improvements and attempt a second submission. If rejected again, it’s best to move on to other images.

    and:

Have to be careful about composition, and small things like this.

The bird also doesn’t stand out from the background.

    Hello,

    The background is overexposed unfortunately:

So this will cause a rejection.

Again, the shadows of the bird could be opened up and there is too much contrast between the bird and the background in this example.

The bird itself is underexposed and the shadows could be opened up.
