Question

Picture rejection

Hello there,

I have the problem that my microscopic pictures get rejected quite often, and I don’t really know why.
In microscopy, the organism looks sharp in parts, but the depth of field is usually very shallow, especially at higher magnifications — I can’t change that.
Also, floating particles or small specks are quite common, especially at higher magnifications. Could it be that these are interpreted as “dust” or “defects”?

Maybe someone can help ?

Hi @VeiledDepths ,

The edge is not fluent. There is this missing edge here.

It's the same issue with the second photo. The edge looks crappy.

Best wishes

Jacquelin

Start by cropping in Photoshop or Lightroom, adjust levels and correct for white balance.  I had to do this type of work a lot for publication in scientific journals & text books.

I think sharpness is the issue. I looked at 200% and they are not crisp. I would try an Image shrapener like Topaz Photo AI.
See the difference?
