Food photography is an art form in an of itself. These lack any suggestion of a serious attempt at composition. The plates themselves are poorly cropped, assuming they should be cropped at all. The color balance (but probably more so the dead lighting) makes the food look unappetizing. For images like this, there should be the addition of more settings (a glass of wine, spoons and forks, napkins, or what have you), to take them above mere documentation.

That's the kind of quality I typically see in Yelp reviews.  You need to do better for commercial Stock photography.

This is what you're competing with in Adobe Stock:

4134: unsharp. With a second of exposure time, I suspect camera move. Did you use a tripod?

4084: the DOF is too narrow. Taking a picture at ISO 400 introduced noise that needs to be compensated for.

In both cases, you have issues with composition. I would guess that these are food photography snapshots. They rarely get good results, and the sell even worse.

One second without a tripod: you have a steady hand, after all.

You're welcome.

IMG_4084.jpeg - focus and composition are the issues here

IMG_4134.jpeg - framing is not good and the harsh light makes the food unattractive

Erwin, submitting shallow depth of field photos are challenging for stock. Overhead shots should be mostly in focus, unless you have a tall product like a sunday, and your focus is on the cherry. Image 4134 most of the noodles in the foreground are out of focus, There is a strange noise happenning zooming in, which indicates you did a lot of post.

In image 4084 it seems obvious you added lens blurred to the "dark sauce" and it's not evenly applied. Food photography is 80% styling... I guess these are typical dishes, which does not look appetizing to the naked eye, so you need to compensate making beauty around your food, specially in image 4084, where the choice of plate, lack of props, and reflections on the table background killed your efforts.

Again food photography is all about styling styling styling. The good news is that there're plenty of resources in the web for reference. Good planning will make your next photos better.
