Question

Quality issues

Hello!
I've uploaded 33 pics from different photoshoots and all of my photos have been rejected due to quality issues. That seems kinda weird to me. I wouldn't mind if a few pictures got rejected or at least all of the same photoshoot, but every one that I uploaded? I'm attaching five example photos - different lightning, different setting etc.

Hello,

As others have mentioned, the main issue is focus and exposure. I think you could improve upon the lighting and white balance, especially in DSC_0120. It has too much of a yellow cast.

1. Exposure problems as shown on the histogram:

2. The focus plane is on the table, before the goblets. You have some noise.

3. The sticks are overexposed. DOF is very thin. Correct the exposure for the sticks. Next time, get the sticks wet at the upper end. That darkens them and creates a unified exposure.

4. You may get an IP violation on this one and on 5. Focus is not right. You need to lift the shadows. You do not have blacks in your picture.

5. It's the wrong season. But that's not the rejection reason. I suppose it's IP. If the refusal was technical issues, it's because of the DOF. The read item in the right upper corner is disturbing.

Hi @_Bartsy ,

The photos are not in complete focus. Also there are detail lost between the background and the black box of the fourth file.

Best wishes

1. Depth of field is too shallow, causing most of the image to be out of focus

2. Also not in sharp focus.

3. Focus in the sticks seems to be ok, but they're overexposed at the top

4. Not well composed with that distracting background. It appears you removed logos from the labels because those areas have smudges and artifacts

5. Again a depth of field issue as nothing in the frame is completely in focus. I would have recomposed to either have the gingerbread man completely in or completely out of the frame.

Zooming in between 100-200% will allow you to carefully inspect your images prior to submitting them. I also recommend submitting in small batches, say 4-6 images, to allow you to learn what is acceptable so that you can apply that knowledge when editing future submissions.
