Quality issues rejected - please enlighten me :)

Hello people,

I've got rejected a bunch of images because of "Quality Issues". That's a little vague to me, but I've read all I could about. I'm posting 2 images, no need to show all because the rest are simmilar. Could them be too underexposed? But the subject requires to be a darker image and I've seen tons of accepted that were darker and _really_ underexposed. Oh, and these are generative AI. Not sure it counts, still interested about the quality issue here 🙂

Thanks!

Correct answer Abambo

Dark is not underexposed. The histogram is nearly OK. You could add a bit of highlights.

Disturbing are, however, these artefacts (a) and this line of lighter pixels (b):

Or errors like here:

And look at these lines at the lower left side:

There are other errors.

You know... I thought of that, since I've submitted a bunch of PNG files. But didn't have transparent background, I did it because of the lossless compression. After a while I started to put jpg's into submission being unsure about the PNG's and transparency. I really hope it was not the issue, but if all my PNG's will be rejected probably will be a possible cause 🙂

The JPEG compression is lossy, that is correct, but a first generation JPEG saved with high quality, does not distinguish much from the original. It's only after several generations, load, save, load, save ... that you will see artefacts, given that your save quality is high enough.

My only reason to avoid JPEG as a final file would be the 8 bits/channel reduction of a 16 bits colour image, if that is of interest for the customer.

Kia ora,

I also don't think the colour or saturation is an issue. Most probably, it's the type of error that @Abambo pointed out. AI tends to introduce such errors which can interfere with the quality check. It's the small things that count.

Thanks, you may be right too! 🙂

Indeed AI tends to introduce weird artefacts and other visual errors that could be easily missed if not too careful. Now that I know what to look for, I'll be more careful 😉

Thanks ABAMBO!

Now that you've magnified 400% the image, I see those flaws. Didn't spotted them at 100% magnification. Some of them are easy to fix. I'll reexamine my images, make a smaller selection, fix what I can and resubmit. Aaaand, I'll know in about 3 or more weeks if that was the issue, with the waiting times these days 😉

Well, I needed to get to 400% as on my 4k screen the errors were perceptible but not much visible. It's always that you see that something is wrong. After having seen AI assets for some time now, I started to know where to look at.

Did you adhere to all the rules regarding titles and keywords for Generative AI? If so, I'm guessing that they were rejected for being over saturated.

Hi Jill,

Yes, I believe I've followed all the rules about titles, keywording, category etc about posting generative AI images. If I made a mistake, I am expecting the rejection would have been based on a different issue, right?

I never thought about saturation, since the subject (sunset, dusk, aurora) would imply to have been quite colorful :)) But, I guess I can tone down the colors a bit, lighten the shadows and try to balance the histogram, and submit again.

Curiously, those images were already accepted by other stock agency... But I'm trying to use those images to "calibrate" my workflow in submitting images to Adobe, since those were the very first.

Correct, but the refusal is on the first error.

Quality Issues is a problem with the asset quality, however.

I doubt that the saturation is an issue. It's nice and pleasant.
