Quality problem?

I put a lot of effort into these two pictures. They were initially rejected due to quality issues. I reworked them in Photoshop to improve their quality, but they got rejected again. Any advice on what might be wrong?

I ask because there is an odd lack of detail in both images as if they were taken with a small sensor camera. White balance in both is too blue and they're somewhat over-exposed. Chromatic aberration in the second image.
