Rejected Image

I recently had this ICM image rejected and I'm pretty sure it is because it shows blurred landscape (as the sun rises.) I personally think this makes good wall art but perhaps I am dreadfully mistaken. There are lots of ICM out there and I believe this is an OK image. Perhaps someone could comment so I can temper images as demand requires

I assume you didn't include your watermark when submitting? That's not allowed. This might fall under the category of abstract wallpaper, and I think more and more of those are being rejected due to database saturation. Nice image, though.

Hi @johnh57587968 ,

You should concentrate on maximizing the flexibility and use of your assets to maximize the number of sales. While one or two persons might like your artwork for background, you'd most likely not get multiple sales as is. Having your subject in focus can also be used as background, but more flexibly when the artist can superimpose layers of people, animals or things to create their own artistic scene, or using the image as is as an illustration or to tell a story.

If Adobe does not see the potential of your assets getting sales, they will not be accepted. Just view your work as material for other to use for their projects.

Best wishes

Jacquelin

Thank you for you insight Jacquelin. I obviously have to adjust my mindset, possibly my subjects and technique and do a bit more research. All the best.

This is what you're competing with.

https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=beach+wallpaper  1.4 million results

As a customer, which would you buy?

It goes without saying that customers can easily add blur effects after purchase, if desired. But it's not so easy to remove blur once it's there.

Adobe Stock customers expect the highest visual and technical quality for use in commercial projects.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your comments Nancy. Although I believe there is nothing photographically or aesthetically wrong with the image it is obviously something that Adobe do not consider saleworthy preferring the more commercial shots displayed in the link you provided. Obviously if I want to sell then I need to get out and take shots like those.

Thank you Daniel. No my logo was not included on my submission. ..and thank you for your kind comment on the image. I have more ICM landscapes I'd like to submit but maybe I'll review that decision now.

You can always keep trying. The majority of my submissions of portraits, and portraits are certainly well represented on Adobe Stock. Some make it through, and some don't (the reason usually being that they are too similar to others in the database). I've given up second-guessing the moderators and submit what I hope will make it through.

I assume you didn't submit this with your logo on it. Even though the blur is intentional, the Adobe Moderator most likely regarded that as a lack of focus, rendering it not suitable for commercial use. We aren't selling art here. We're selling images for commercial applications.

Thank you Jill. No my logo was not included on my submission. It's interesting that this was rejected as have had other ICM images accepted. Perhaps a different moderator?
