Rejected photo for quality issues. How can I improve?

Hello!

 

I posted two photos and rejected. They said It has a quailty issue.

Could you please evaluate attached photos and give me an advice to improve?

Hello,

 

Focus is one thing on the monkey's face:

it's not sharp!

 

and exposure:

It is underexposed.

You need to make some adjustments -exposure, contrast, white balance... to get something more like this:

but, it won't pass because of the issue with focus...

For animal shots, a higher shutter speed is better, due to the movement of the animal. The monkey probably moved its head as you pressed the shutter button. 1/160 sec may not have been fast enough.

Shadows need to be lightened

Let's zoom in to 100% and check the image.
The image looks slightly blurry due to shaking, being out of focus, or insufficient lens resolution.
If the photo had been taken clearly, the animal's fur would have looked even better.

 

It would also be good to put more thought into framing the photo.

The peacock is soft. Even the eye on the left is sharper than the one on the right.
