Should I Expand Gradient Fills in Icons Before Uploading EPS Vectors to Adobe Stock?

Hi everyone,

I'm creating a set of vector icons with gradient fills, and I plan to upload them to Adobe Stock. I know EPS 10 is the required format, but I'm unsure whether I should expand the gradients before saving.

When I expand them, the result often doesn't look clean - sometimes it creates many unwanted shapes or ruins the simplicity of the design. On the other hand, keeping them unexpanded preserves the look but I'm concerned about compatibility or rejection.

My questions:

  • Is it acceptable to upload EPS 10 files with unexpanded gradients?

  • Will Adobe Stock render them properly in previews?

  • Could unexpanded gradients lead to rejection or rendering issues?

I’d appreciate any guidance from experienced contributors. Thanks in advance!

Why is EPS 10 the required format? AI or SVG is preferred, but EPS is accepted. Any correct EPS file will render correctly. Why should you bother to "expand" gradiants. That will just create issues.
