similar content rejection

Dear Adobe Stock Contributor Support,

I am writing to seek a clear and detailed explanation regarding a recent pattern of content rejections I have experienced on my contributor account.

Out of my total 2,400 submitted assets, 1,171 have been rejected under the reason "Similar Content." While I understand that Adobe Stock aims to maintain a diverse and high-quality content library, I am genuinely confused and concerned about the consistency and accuracy of these rejections.

Many of the rejected assets are not duplicates — they differ meaningfully in composition, lighting, perspective, background elements, and even subject arrangement. I've also made deliberate efforts to assign each file a distinct and relevant title and set of keywords to ensure uniqueness. Despite these steps, a large number have still been flagged as "too similar."

Given this, I would appreciate clarification on the following:

1. What are the specific technical or visual criteria currently being used to determine “similar content”?

2 .Has there been a recent change to the review process — for example, the increased use of AI or stricter algorithmic evaluation — that could be contributing to the high rate of similarity-based rejections?

3. Does the title, keyword variation, or slight compositional change have any weight in preventing such rejections?

4. With the recent introduction of the Customize feature on Adobe Stock, which encourages variation and personalization of assets, how should contributors approach submitting similar yet distinct content to remain compliant without risking mass rejections?

I am committed to following Adobe stocks quality and submission standards and would appreciate any guidance you can provide to help me improve future submissions and avoid further unnecessary rejections.

Thank you in advance for your support and clarification.

There is no additional official information available. The issue concerns both, photographers and generative AI contributors in the same way. I suspect that Adobe introduced a new tool for moderators to see how many similar assets of your submitted asset are in the database. My guess is that the tool is ill calibrated, but that is only my personal opinion.

As fellow users, we can only share our personal experiences.  Adobe doesn't give us much guidance on 'similar content' except what's published in the User Guide.  See below.

My approach is to use AI as a starting point rather than a final product.

Good luck.

I thought I held the record at over 200 rejections for assets being too similar. This has been an issue for a number of contributors for the past few months. Sometimes the rejections are justified. At other times, they seem arbitrary and unjustified. There is really not a lot to be done, whether it's a poorly written algorithm or AI making such decisions. Many contributors have slowed down or ceased contributing completely as a result. While photographers have also been affected over this issue, I suspect AI contributors are particularly affected. In any event, you are not addressing Adobe on this forum, but contributors like yourself, and there is little advice we can provide to be of assistance.

Generative AI contributors are submitting more assets, and btw many of those assets are not corrected. The absolute number of the similar refusals should be higher for generative AI contributors.
