Your light seems a bit harsh against the white surface. Can you diffuse it? 

Many food photographers add textured elements to their shots which adds some warmth and visual interest.

Neither image is sharply focused. The first one has some spots on the background. The second is over-exposed, and some of the vegetables look a bit dried out, particularly the carrots. The white balance of the background is a bit off - a bit too blue in the shadows. I like the bright colors and composition, so it's worth trying again.
