I think it's a good photo.  It just requires a little post editing in Photoshop to make it really pop.

• Use the Spot Healing Brush to remove unwanted airplane distractions.
• Adjust ever so slightly the horizontal alignment.
• Remove haze with Levels and Curves adjustment layers.

IMHO, I would crop out the parts of the plane and make slight adjustments to tone and clarity?
