Im new to this PNG thingy and I have a question to ask I recently submitted a photo of a cat, I edited as a transparent one and save it as a PNG . I uploaded it on adobe stock but it has a white background

Is this normal or the white background will disappear once the review is finished

I believe Adobe Stock displays PNG files as JPEG, replacing the transparent pixels with white. The customer gets the file with a transparent background when downloading.

And this is indeed a problem, when white is an important asset colour. Users should have the possibility to show the transparency in any colour. But I think that Adobe did not change the underlying code to display the preview, but added only a “PNG” button.

A transparent background is denoted by checkerboard in Photoshop.  See screenshot.

When Exporting as PNG, be sure to check the box for Transparency. See screenshot.

Hope that helps.

Hi Nancy,

I appreciate your thoughtful reply. What to do when none of that works? Is this not something Photoshop can do? It seems crazy that it can't export a transparent background. I'm a Stock contributor and can't upload a transparent PNG no matter how I try, and no one on chat can help either. I'm stumped. How do folks do this?

Thanks again,

Mary

I don't know what "none of that works" means.

Start with an image that's RGB, 8-bits/channel on a transparent background layer.

Draw your image. Save as PSD.

Go to File > Export > Export As > PNG with transparency.

Hit the EXPORT ALL button and save to your local hard drive.

It works for me every time.
