Two updates for submitting generative AI content

Hi everyone,

I would like to share two updates regarding the submission of generative AI images to Adobe Stock. We have updated the contributor portal and added an additional checkbox that eliminates the need for you to attach a property release for generative AI images featuring people or property that are fictional.

In addition, you can now submit photo-realistic generative AI images as asset type photos, i.e., content that looks as though it could have been created by a camera, as long as you check the box that it was created with generative AI tools. All other generative AI content should continue to be submitted as asset type illustrations.

You can read the details on all the updates in our learn and support page here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/generative-ai-content.html

Let me know if you have any questions.

Correct answer Mat Hayward

We won't reject your file if you include "generative AI" in your title and/or keywords. This particular line is more a suggestion than a mandate.

Thanks for the question,

Hi AL Creators,

Using cartoon people.  Can you please add some Asian people?  Can't find anywhere.  I need to represent all people groups in my pubications.  Maybe some people from Mexico and India also?  So far, only white and black represented in cartoons people AI.

Thanks,

JoAnn

Hm. I tried experimenting and marked one of my photorealistic portraits as a photo instead of an illustration. I got this warning. The AI boxes were both check. Got nervous so I switched it back to an illustration.

Ignore that, when you are not required to issue a model release. It's saying “potential”, it's not saying “A model release is missing”. For AI, if your picture depicts a fake model, use the new flag offered under the "Generative AI tools":

That's equivalent to a property release under the old rules for fake people.

Yep, I finally figured that out. Although some of my photorealistic portraits are borderline between illustrations and photography, so I continue to label those as illustrations.

Hi Mat, I uploaded some KI pictures 6 days ago, as a photo but with the checkbox for KI ticked. these have already been checked today. Are these treated like normal photos? Unfortunately, they were all rejected, which I can't explain. Did I do something wrong?

I had 16 submitted images, approx 4 months old, put in the reminders queue this AM for missing model (not property?) releases. All are AI-generated portraits of nonexistant humans. Should I create property releases for them as per previous, or under the new rules do I just resubmit with the new options checked and no release? Thank you.

I checked your account and don't see anything in the reminder section at this time. Content you submit now does not require a property release as long as you click the 2nd check box.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

These were old submissions from before the existence of the 2nd box. I went through all 16, clicked that box and saved/resubmitted. Hopefully that will work.

And BTW Mat, I just want to say THANK YOU for your hard work & quick responses. I really appreciate you and your colleagues. I know it's a thankless job (I did something very similar for almost 20 years for Monotype), but you're doing a great job!

Thanks for the update Mat. I am a new contributor and I just now saw this new information. I was very careful to try to follow all the rules, but I am now concerned whether submissions made prior to this that were still submitted the previously requested way will be rejected? Example: if a submission made on 7/24 followed the submission rules prior to 7/20. The wait time is long and I would hate for anything to be rejected if it does not go along with the new rules post 7/20. Is there some kind of grace period? I wish there was a way to go back on the files in review and make updates since they are already in the queue.

Adobe has made it clear that previously submitted assets will not be rejected for following the rules that were in place at the time of submission.

Thanks Jill. However "following the rules that were in place at the time of submission" is exactly what I am asking about. The new rules were updated on 7/20. If you submitted files after that date, that still followed the prior rules, will these be rejected? Or is there some type of grace period? This is what I am concerned about.

Thanks Mat! This makes uploading much easier and more consistent.

I just went back through my previous submissions and would delete/resubmit, but several of my submissions are now at 6-8 months in the review queue, and I'm worried that I will lose my place if I do that. Is there a way to update info without losing my place?

6 to 8 months is quite a long time. There is no possibility to change your assets as long as they are in the moderation queue.

Thanks for the innovation, it will make the authors' job much easier.

I have a question regarding the wording from the Generative AI Content article:

Don’t: Add 'generative AI' to titles and keywords. The checkbox "Created by using generative AI tools" classifies your image as a generative AI image.

Adding "generative AI" in the title - is this forbidden or just not recommended?

I'd like to keep "generative AI" in end of title because for some other photo agencies it's mandatory, and I add the metadata inside the file.

Can you please explain this wording in the article further?

Dos and Don'ts look like mandatory for me. You can modify for other agencies.
